“My Uncle Tom is a car enthusiast, and his prized possession is a 1971 Dodge Challenger. Besides this classic car, he also has a beloved dog named Rocky. Rocky, a loyal golden retriever, has been Uncle Tom's closest companion since he was a pup.
Uncle Tom would often take Rocky for rides in the Challenger. As soon as the engine roared to life, Rocky would eagerly jump into the passenger seat, sticking his head out the window to feel the wind rushing by.
Uncle Tom had an old car buddy who lived about 10 kilometers away. This friend was wheelchair-bound due to a car accident in his youth. Every Saturday, Uncle Tom would drive over with Rocky to visit him. Their routine was to pick up some pastries and coffee before heading to his friend's house.
When they arrived, Rocky would excitedly run around the garden while Uncle Tom and his friend sat on the porch, savoring their treats and coffee, and enjoying a leisurely afternoon. They would often reminisce about the good old days, telling stories about cruising around and attending car meets. These Saturday afternoons became the highlight of their week.
Uncle Tom and Rocky shared countless wonderful moments together. After each outing, Rocky would always snuggle up beside Uncle Tom, while the Dodge Challenger sat quietly in the garage, waiting for the next adventure.
As time went on, Uncle Tom's health began to decline, and his eyesight deteriorated, making it impossible for him to drive. Rocky, too, went from being a lively pup to a slow-moving old dog.
So now, every Saturday, I take Uncle Tom and Rocky to get pastries and coffee, then drive them to visit Uncle Tom's old friend. We sit on the porch, chatting about the past, with Rocky nestled at Uncle Tom's feet, gently keeping us company.
Thanks to the 1971 Dodge Challenger and Rocky, we've formed an unbreakable bond. Now, Saturdays have become the day I look forward to the most each week."
